The body is a living archive of emotion, memory, loss, and renewal, reflecting the habitat it inhabits. I observe bodies in states of simultaneous presence and absence, emerging from empty space to acquire age, gender, physical form, and social privilege. Because life does not conclude with physical decay, the residue of individual experience circulates forward through a larger cycle of transformation.
My own body serves as a starting point to translate this continuation as I search for new scales of physical presence. My process repeatedly constructs and deconstructs layers, allowing early traces to reemerge through washes of tone that embody both vitality and decay. As these physical transformations expand into space, the resulting scenery allows the body to function as a lens through which systems of distinction and our fragile present can be reconsidered.
